Empower To Succeed
Sophia launched her social media platform Empower To Succeed in April 2020. The mission is to inspire and motivate young women to fulfill their purpose-driven life. Sophia leads professional development workshops and interviews women from various career paths. Her goal with this platform is to instill confidence in women while amplifying female voices. Dress for Success Hartford
Sophia is a devoted volunteer at Dress for Success Hartford where she provides developmental tools to help women obtain success in their career and personal life. The purpose of Dress for Success is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty and learn the skills necessary to secure a safer and better future. Dress for Success is an organization close to Sophia's heart as she is passionate about empowering women from all walks of life.
Junior Achievement USA
Sophia is an active volunteer for Junior Achievement USA. She has participated in a Virtual Career Panel for the Junior Achievement USA branch of New England. The purpose of Junior Achievement USA is to empower young people to own their economic success. As the youngest panelist to participate, Sophia offered advice and insight with the hope of inspiring students to confidently pursue their career and economic goals. Sophia also works with students in the classroom through the organization's 4-part event series. Sophia is dedicated to empowering the next generation of bright minds.
Make-A-Wish Connecticut
In July 2019, Sophia completed training to become a Wish Granter at Make-A-Wish Connecticut. A Wish Granter is trained to meet with wish kids and their families to help children determine a wish. They also work alongside Make-A-Wish staff and wish families throughout the wish process. Sophia is also an event volunteer where she participated in Sunflower-For-Wishes: a week-long fundraiser in which 100 percent of the profits go directly towards Make-A-Wish Connecticut.
Reading With Royalty
Sophia is a reader for Reading with Royalty: a virtual platform dedicated to reading to children who are part of the Children Miracle Network Hospitals. Sophia hopes to encourage imagination and innovation through storytelling.
Read with a Queen
Sophia is a volunteer reader for Read With a Queen where she reads books to children on the Facebook platform. Sophia is dedicated to increasing childhood literacy rates across the country. As a committed member in college to the philanthropic effort Read>Lead>Achieve, Sophia's goal is to instill a lifelong love for reading.
Toy Delivery to CT Children's Medical Center
Sophia volunteers frequently at various ESPN Corporate Citizenship initiatives. Sophia was one of the volunteers who delivered toys to the CT Children's Medical Center. The goal was to provide comfort and inspiration to families with children facing serious illness. Growing up, Sophia visited her cousin at the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital many times. She hopes these initiatives provide a moment of happiness for children and families at the hospital.
